Not a great beauty & nobody's fool. She's "Society" from Binghamton, NY. Grand promenading outfit complete with kid gloves & parasol. Note how cleverly the hem is cut from darker cloth. Should she happen to step into a shallow puddle and soak up a bit of water it would never show. The perfect stamp affixed to the back dates it to the Civil War. These are not often found on tintypes. In very nice condition. Orig. shiny varnish. Superficial surface scratches, a very mild bend at upper right. None of this is visible unless angled under very bright light. Specks are scanner related. Viewed on my screen it is as close in color, contrast & sharpness as can be achieved with the equipment at hand. Generally, what you see is inferior to the real thing. All scans are matched to the image when viewed in the light of a 20 watt Halogen reading lamp which sits by my computer. I adjust the controls for accuracy only, NEVER to enhance.
