| SOLD FULL TINTYPE OF YOUNGSTER IN FASHIONABLE SUIT | |||
| Date & Maker c1875 photographer unknown. Found in Maine, USA. | |||
| Description The Tintype's focus is on the lad's face & collar, the rest starts to get soft with the exception of the newel post, it too is in sharp focus. That tells us that the little fellow's body moved during exposure but not his head. That would be hard to do, maybe the photographer gave him a head transplant. Is that possible with tintypes? The frame is made of a rich brown Walnut. | |||
| Condition The Tintype is just about perfect having been under glass & unopened all this time. A shallow bend on the lower right & left caused by fitting it tightly into the frame. A bit of buffing would restore the varnish to its original sheen. The Frame is also in superb condition. It has a gilded liner. Neither of the 2 has been fiddled with. All Original. | |||
| Comments The image is better than my scans as far as clarity is concerned. Tonal quality is pretty accurate. | |||
| Size TIN: 8.5" x 7.25" Frame: 13.5" x 11.5" ( 21.5 x 18.5 and 34 x 29.2 cm ) | |||
