SOLD Gilded OVAL VICTORIAN WALL FRAME
Date & Maker c1870-1880 USA
Description Pine frame with overlaid gesso which has been modeled in a design of Lily of the Valley centered by 4 persimmons. All of it was then gilded.
Condition Very good. The gilding is original. There are a few stress lines running through it which rather adds to the antique look. 2 little flower buds are missing. The frame is sound.
Comments The photo is original to the frame. It appears to be an albumen print, possibly of later date than the frame.
Size Outer dimensions are 14.5"h x 13" w ........front opening is 9.25" x 7.25".........Back opening is 10" x 8" ( 37 x 33......23.5 x 18.5......25.5 x 20.3 cm )
