Civil War Era CDV #15

C15  Civil War Era CDV by BRADY of a beautiful Lady
Photographer  Mathew B. Brady, Broadway & Tenth St., NY & No 352 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, DC
Condition   Very good. Too bad someone got heavy handed when trimming it. Maybe it was Madame herself, she seems to be wearing a Chatelaine. We can barely make out the Brady New York Studio Mark at the front bottom edge. 2 creases at top right.
Description   This is the kind of posture my mother constantly urged me work on. Pretty regal, no? One smart lady too, totally involved in the process of having her picture taken by the most famous in the land. Her dress is fabulous, especially the velvet trimmed sleeves covering the velvet cuffed blouse sleeves. The dress fabric is pure silk. She chose the dress design from the latest Paris Fashion Sketches. I imagine it was Emerald Green with dark green velvet to match her eyes.
Comment   For those of you who don't know: Brady was given permission by President Lincoln to photograph the Civil War Camp & Battle scenes. He took a total of 3500 photographs while lugging around cumbersome wetplate cameras. His achievements are too numerous to mention.
