Plate.
Unattributed early Ambrotype of
a Lady in a gorgeous dress. Found in NY State. A little strange
this Mona Lisa smile, those eyes looking at us confidently & amused.
There is some tinting on the right which could be a hat. The contrast
isn't great and there are some imperfections. Minor ones such as the dark
spots & slight surface scratches which are not visible unless the
glass is removed. The full leather case is great. The embossed velvet pad
is much brighter and as mint as the day it was made. The gilded stamped
edging is also perfect. The hinge is not, it's solid but has been
repaired. $

Please note: I make every effort to create a scan that mirrors the actual image as close as possible. Viewed on my screen it is as close in color, contrast & sharpness as can be achieved with the equipment at hand. Generally, what you see is inferior to the real thing. All scans are matched to the image when viewed in the light of a 20 watt Halogen reading lamp which sits by my computer. I adjust the controls for accuracy only, NEVER to enhance. |
