Condition Cover & Binding: Covers are in superb condition. The rich Moroccan leather is deeply tooled front & back. Leather Spine attached & whole. Binding intact, pages move very well. No Glue, no repairs. All original. Gilded pages. The 8 porcelain rests are set into brass rings & are original.
Condition Pages: The pages range from clean to smudged. The paper is of good quality so there are no tears. Each page is decorated around the edge as well as around the openings. The orig. Front Page is there & very clean. All end papers are original & of white Moiré paper. The word ALBUM is stamped on the spine in gilded letters. No Index. The last page has been cut away for reasons unknown to me but doesn't affect the overall appearance.
Condition Overall: Very good. Gilding of pages is bright. The 2 Brass Clasps have lovely leaf ornaments set off with porcelain balls, all intact & original. The condition of the pages are consistent with a 140 year old photo album. Displays extremely well.
Comments Perfect for your CDV collection. Will tolerate handling.
